ICO Convert is a free online icon maker and favicon generator that allows you to create icons from png or jpg photos. Simply upload a photo of yourself, resize and crop it, convert to a shape of your choice, apply borders and shadows, and export it as a PNG image or Windows icon.

The ICO file format is an image file format used by Microsoft Windows for computer icons. ICO files contain one or more tiny pictures in a variety of sizes and color depths that may be resized suitably. All executables in Windows that display an icon to the user, whether on the desktop, in the Start Menu, or in Windows Explorer, must utilize the ICO format. A favicon (short for Favourite icon) is a file that contains one or more little icons, typically 16x16 pixels in size, that are associated with a certain online site or web page.

ICO Converter Steps

  1. Select several files on your computer by clicking the "Choose Files" button, or click the "URL" button to select an online file from URL, Google Drive, or Dropbox. PNG, SVG, JPG, BMP, GIF, WEBP, HEIC, ICO, and other image formats can be used as the source image. You must use source photos with transparent backgrounds to make translucent icons.
  2. Select the icon type and size. You have the option of creating a single multi-resolution icon for all sizes or one icon file for each size. Icons are typically 16x16, 32x32, 48x48, 64x64, and 128x128 pixels in size. You may input custom icon sizes by selecting the "Custom size" option. The format is [width]x[height], with commas between values ranging from 16x16 to 256x256. For instance, 30x30, 60x60, and 90x90.
  3. To begin batch conversion, click the "Convert Now!" button. In the "Conversion Results" section, the result files will be listed. Click the symbol to see the file's QR code or to upload it to a cloud storage service like Google Drive or Dropbox.
